The Gift of Challenge
As I stagger grazed and changed out of the year 2013, I realize that the tremendous demands of the year are actually bearing gifts, just as I had fervently hoped during the steepest of challenges. I’m not the only one who has faced obstacles, anxieties, and deep changes this year. For many of us, this year has been stacked with challenges that have made sticking with the status quo a ridiculous thought.
Many times this year I was convinced I was being dragged through broken glass – kicking and screaming but moving nevertheless.
And then I began to surrender.
I’m not much good at surrendering. I’m much better at driving, trying to control, thinking I have a better way.
Do you know what I mean?
All I knew was that I couldn’t keep driving ahead in the same way I’d done in the past. That was way too hard to do.
I’m happy to report that surrender is bearing fruit. I am much more at peace. I can sense a great river of truth coursing through my life. And I know that all is well.
Sometimes I drop Surrender and pick back up Drive, and the merry-go-round of fears, worries, and distress starts back up again. And do I hate that!
Then I remember to be still and to be present right now. Am I safe, can I do what I need to do today? Have I said a prayer and said, “thank you”?
Surrender is not about inaction. It is about consciously turning my thoughts and awareness (over and over again some times) to what is happening now, right now.
If my Fear Thoughts are scaring me, then I have to actively challenge them. I have become an Active Affirmer. I listen to my Fear Thoughts and actively turn them around to what I would rather believe. Then I affirm what I want to believe and feel. I give thanks that what I am affirming is true.
If there is something for me to do – make a phone call, write an email, finish a project – then that’s what I work to do.
I have worked helping clients upgrade their mindset and clear their emotions to get desired results in their business and life for over 20 years now. Never before have I been so aware of the necessity of constantly working on what you think, feel, and believe. It is not a “nice to have”, it’s essential for your well-being and your wealth!
When things get challenging, it becomes even more important to examine your thoughts and feelings, uproot Fear Thoughts, and affirm and appreciate what you desire to be true.
This year has brought great challenges. The gifts of awareness and action (even in the face of fear) are even greater.
My wish for you this season is that you experience the river of truth in your own life and know that truly all is well for you.
